Lignose Pistol Accessory / Travel Soap Box sewing The band is original deadstockPrewar German Lignose aluminum box. Lignose was a pistol made in the 1920s during the Weimer era to skirt the Treaty of Versailles. I am unsure what the box's original purpose was (perhaps to hold spare ammunition?). However, the person who owned it last, used it as a travel soap box there is still remnants of soap inside.
